Standing behind her merchandise gives the customers assurance that their needs will be met."I feel like when you're doing a business, you can't look out for your own benefits. you have to see that in a small business, I have to look out for my customer's benefits first. When the customer has the benefits, then they will return to visit me again. But now lots of my customers have become my friends. They're not just my customers anymore."

Attending Anchorage University in Alaska, and Riverside Community College in California, she also had an apprenticeship as a tailor with her brother-in-law's father to learn the many secrets of the trade. "He was a very good tailer in Hong Kong before, and he taught me a lot", she says about her training with him. Her designs are sought after by many who want a special one-of-a-kind dress that is created to bring out the best in the person that it is created for. Whether it's designing dresses or making sure that a garment is altered to perfectly fit, Ms. Wood can do it all.

Ms. Wood was born in Hanoi, Vietnam, and grew up in Vietnam and Laos. She worked hard to save money to come to the United States, where she first settled in San Francisco with her sister, who came over with her.
